1.     Since 1205 hrs on 29 Sep 16 the issue which has been "dissected" by all and sundry specially in Indian Media is the declaration by Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, DGMO of Indian Army that Indian Special Forces conducted surgical strikes inside POK and neutralized terrorists and "those who supported them".  Social media is abuzz like beehive with all kinds of messages being forwarded to all and sundry. Now let me enumerate what happened thereafter:- (a)  Pakistan gave out conflicting statements ranging from flat denial of any such operations, to accepting death of two of its army personnel in cross border" firing (Do they mean LOC is now IB?) to total silence from their Defence Minister who was talking of dropping nuclear bombs on India in case of any military action by India as also Gen Sharief their COAS who retires in a few weeks. While stir for reservations / quota system on one side and debates on definition of nationalism / patriotism / sedition on other are hogging the nation's attention, two CRPF jawans have lost life while nine are seriously injured in J&K today safeguarding these great citizens of our great country who are hell bent of destroying it from within. A passing thought though...country's superior services who deserve better and higher protocol (read politicians, bureaucracy and judiciary) have once again failed and turned to a inferior service (read armed forces) to restore the situation for them so that they can rule the country from their higher pedestal once again.. till the time they screw it up again.. all the while when veterans are peacefully sitting at Jantar Mantar demanding their due for last one year.

TRANSITIONAL WORLD: PRESENT DAY GLOBAL SCENARIO AN ARTICLE BY ATUL KUMAR PUBLISHED IN WORLD AFFAIRS JOURNAL 1.         Already one and a half decade has passed since the end of  the  Cold War,  symbolised  by  the disintegration  of  a Super  Power, breaching  of the Berlin wall and consequent embrace  of   market economy  and  political pluralism by the ex-communist  states  in Eastern   Europe.  In Aug 1991 with the falling apart of the Soviet Union, like nine pins, the peoples witnessed the emergence of an uni-polar world where the power would now be in the hands of a single super power, at least in the near future. However, economic globalization is decentralizing power widely and regional power centres with credible military capabilities are emerging.  The  Uni-polar  Movement  which  appeared to crystallise remains valid in the strategic realm, but assertion by new  and emerging economic players like India, China, Japan  the  East Asian ‘tigers’, as also the regional
